Haltwhistle Past 1541
In 1541on the 2nd December a survey of all the castle’s and towers throughout Northumberland was made and compiled at Newcastle upon Tyne. In the Haltwhistle area there were several castles and towers most of which still exist today in various states of repair. The following is a list called the Nomina Castorum et Fortalicorum infra comitatum Northumbriae:ef:
